One-Day Tour: Authentic Rice Planting Experiences + Kuang Xi Waterfall Visit Welcome to an exciting ONE-DAY program that includes: • An authentic rice planting experience at NaKhaoHorn Farm. • A visit to Kuang Xi Waterfall, accessible by minivan (included) or by steam train (extra ticket price). You’re Day’s Activities: • 09:00 AM - 10:30 AM: Depart in a local express minivan to the hills, followed by a transfer to the farm. • 10:30 AM - 11:00 AM: Enjoy sightseeing at Kuang Xi Waterfall. • 11:45 AM - 01:00 PM: Have lunch at NaKhaoHorn Farm. • 01:00 PM - 03:00 PM: Participate in rice planting activities, such as plowing seeds or bringing offerings for spirits with a local farmer (optional). • 03:00 PM - 05:00 PM: Relax or swim in the local pond. During this program, you will learn about the complete rice planting process: 1. Preparing Phase (Seed Selection and Land Preparation) • Step 01: Study the buffalo’s role in preparing the land. • Step 02: Understand soil types suitable for different kinds of Thai rice. • Step 03: Select quality seeds. 2. Rice Planting Phase • Step 04: Practice the real rice planting process. • Step 05: Engage in hands-on rice planting. 3. Water & Weed Management / Caring Phase In this phase (from the end of May to October each year), you will visit the rice fields to observe how local farmers manage care, watering, and pest control using organic methods. Proper management is crucial for rice growth; without it, yield can be significantly low. • Step 06: Learn about caring for the crops, watering, and pest management. 4. Post-Harvesting Phase • Step 07: Harvest rice by hand and dry it. • Step 08: Thresh rice by hand. • Step 09: Separate rice grains by hand. You will take pride in learning and practicing these traditional methods of rice production in rural areas of Laos, particularly in Luang Prabang Province. 5. Storage Phase • Step 10: Pound natural rice or husk rice by hand. • Step 11: Separate rice grains by hand. • Step 12: Complete the rice production process.
