ITINERARY

DAY 01: TREKKING THE LONGHUT TRAIL (TRK 004-LT) Begin the day with a morning drive to Ban Xieng Lom, a picturesque village along the Nam Khan River, nestled in the countryside at the base of a towering mountain. From here, we’ll cross the Nam Khan River on a small boat to start our hike through the jungle, heading to a mid-mountain Lao Theung (Khmu) village. While taking care not to disrupt the tranquility of this remote area, we’ll observe locals as they go about their daily routines. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions, explore the village, and interact with its residents, with your guide available to translate. Bidding farewell to the Khmu village, we enter a dramatically different landscape, dominated by dense jungle, soaring limestone cliffs, and flourishing ferns. Following a steep, narrow, and rocky trail, we ascend toward our final destination, often sharing the path with villagers making their way to market. After a short but steep climb, we reach a highland Lao Sung (Hmong) village, an isolated and charming community teeming with roaming livestock. The local children are likely to greet you with warm smiles and cheerful laughter. We’ll enjoy lunch in a simple, local home, offering a rare opportunity to engage in meaningful cultural exchange. Listen to stories about the region’s diverse cultures, play with the children, or ask questions about life in the mountains. After this peaceful interlude, we begin our descent, passing through other small villages along the way. The trail follows a gentle stream, where you may see villagers returning from markets or working in the fields. Upon reaching the Nam Khan River, a short boat ride will bring us back to our starting point.
